Accessible Holiday Park Award developed in consultation with Holistic Thinking Holidays
We’re delighted to welcome Holistic Thinking Holidays as the Accessibility Partner for the Holiday Park Awards.
Founded by Claire and Steve Welsh, Holistic Thinking Holidays was created to provide truly accessible holidays for families where standard “wheelchair access” simply isn’t enough.
Claire brings over 30 years’ experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, alongside her work as an Expert Witness and Case Manager. Through this, she has seen first-hand the challenges families with complex mobility and care needs can face when trying to find holiday accommodation that is genuinely suitable, practical and stress-free.
Steve manages the operations of Holistic Thinking Holidays, helping to deliver accessible holiday accommodation across a growing number of UK coastal holiday parks.
Their holiday homes are designed around real practical needs, with features such as ramped access, wider internal spaces, profiling beds, ceiling hoists, wet rooms, shower chairs, mobile hoists and access to beach wheelchairs at selected locations.
This specialist experience will help shape the Accessible Holiday Park Award in a meaningful and practical way, ensuring the category recognises parks that go beyond basic access requirements and demonstrate a genuine commitment to inclusion, thoughtful design and the guest experience.
Holistic Thinking Holidays have supported the development of the award criteria. Final judging will remain independent and follow the Holiday Park Awards judging process.
